This is not a traditional playground with swings and slides but rather a basketball court that has been transformed into a visually striking piece of public art through collaborations between the French fashion brand Pigalle, the creative agency Ill-Studio, and Nike. The court is renowned for its vibrant and eye-catching aesthetic, featuring a gradient of smooth, iridescent hues and bold geometric designs. While its primary function is as a basketball court, the flooring is made of ethylene propylene diene monome (EPDM) rubber, a material commonly used in playgrounds for its shock-absorbing qualities, suggesting a consideration for the safety of those using the space. The Pigalle Basketball court is open to the public and has become a popular spot for both locals and tourists who come to play basketball and to admire its distinctive and Instagram-worthy design. Led by Pigalle's founder Stéphane Ashpool, the redesign of the court was also intended to support local children by providing an inspiring and engaging environment for physical activity.
